There are at least 50 people in the small town of Pierre playing D&D, so I'm sure you can find someone in your area that is playing it. Check around and ask friends.

DDO, unlike other MMORPG's, is scenario or quest based rather than per kill based. You can team up in a group or run a quest solo, but in order to gain any xp, the quest must be completed. Usually there is some kind of end reward involved, and for harder quests the end rewards get better.

DDO is currently on Mod 8 and soon (?), will be on Mod 9.

The whole game is set in the Eberon game setting which includes warforged characters. They have incorporated most of the basics of pen and paper gaming, but have also made several changes. Magic using characters have mana pools to draw from so you can cast numerous spells as long as your pool is not expended. All characters have enhancement points which they can spend in different ways to improve upon their abilities along with the normal feat and skill progression based upon the table top game system.

The current level range is maxed at 16th level, but with Mod 9 the level cap will be raised to 20th.

Hi. I've tried many online games until ddo. There is no other online game which comes anywhere near. This game is for adults where as all of the others are aimed at kids.
The graphics are superb. It will stretch you grey cells and you'll be truly hooked in about thirty minutes. I've enjoyed playing other games like wow and have been bored after about a week.............................four years on and I'm still hungry for more ddo.
The only fault I can find is that other jobs around the house never get done and I stay up far too late playing it.
I can never work out why it isnt advertised and talked about more than it is.
Hope this helps ............GET IT NOW........... you won't be dissapointed.

My daughter turned me on to the online game. I had to quit after playing for only 5hrs. Had to go to work, to bad I can not play at work but then nothing would ever get done. So I guess that is a good thing in the long run.

If you havent heard of DDO before, then what games do you play xD
DDO is a really interesting sort of game, with a system working similiar to NWN. weapons do damage according to certain amounts of certain amount-sided-dice. dodging traps, negating mental attacks all work on checks. There is such a wide variety of in game mechanics its too much to explain and much better to actually see for yourself. currently the level cap is 20, but levels in DDO work somewhat differently i.e. it takes 5 ranks (almost like 5 different "mini-levels") to earn the next level. to anyone thinking about checking it out, i say- CHECK IT OUT! just take note that if you play ddo as f2p (free2play), then quests get pretty scarce after level 9, since at level 9 you only unlock a single quest, but you can earn favor from doing quests on different difficulties and thereby earning store points to purchase adventure packs (quests, areas) if you earn enough.

Free to Play indeed does get more difficult to level up as you hit around level 9, unless you delay leveling, you can delay leveling and still gain experience. This is important in that you get deductions on experience for quests as you out level them. Your starting quests in Korthos are level 1, so you get full experience for them as a level 1, 2, or 3. A level 4 player would take a 10% penalty, a level 5 player a 25% penalty, it goes up from there. The fastest experience is usually gained by doing the quests 3 times on normal, once on Hard, and once on Elite. The first three times you do a quest you get full experience with a bonus for the first time on each difficulty. I believe it is 10%, 25%, and 50% respectively. You also take a penalty if you are grouped with someone more that three levels above you. You need 5,000 exp. to gain level 2 and I would advise going ahead and leveling and perhaps level 3 as well. However I would delay gaining level 4 - 13 if you are a F2P account. There are just not that many quests unless you purchase a few adventure packs especially in the 9 - 13 level range. To delay you would wait to level to 4 at 89,999 or close to it, don't get too close to that exp as you can't go over that unless you level to 5. This delayiing allows you to get the most experience for all the Free 2 Play quests. For those really into tedium and repitition you can do each quest on Normal for 11 times and still recieve experience, the first 3 times normal experience then diminishing the base experience by 10% each repetition there after with 10% of the base experience plus whatever optionals you have available. I always break the crates, barrels etc. most quests will give you another 15% to the base.

Level 2 - 5,000 to 19,999
Level 3 - 20,000 to 49,999
Level 4 - 50,000 to 89,999
Level 5 - 90,000 to 139,999
Level 6 - 140,000 to 199,999
Level 7 - 200,000 to 269,999
Level 8 - 270,000 to 349,999
Level 9 - 350,000 to 439,999
Level 10 - 440,000 to 549,999
Level 11 - 550,000 to 659,999
Level 12 - 660,000 to 779,999
Level 13 - 780,000 to 909,999
Level 14 - 910,000 to 1,049,999
Level 15 - 1,050,000 to 1,119,999
Level 16 - 1,200,000 to 1,359,999
Level 17 - 1,360,000 to 1,529,999
Level 18 - 1,530,000 to 1709,999
Level 19 - 1,710,000 to 1,899,999
Level 20 - 1,900,000 Current Max Level

And most important the people playing this game are for the most part not gang$ta$. They tend to be very helpful in answering questions.
