Foundation multi-player map:
Successfully complete the game in single player mode under any difficulty setting.

Note: The following glitch may prevent some people from unlocking the map as it was originally intended. First, complete single-player mode under any difficulty setting. Create a new profile. Begin a co-op mode game on the last level with the newly-created profile as the second player. When you reach a section where you fly a Banshee, the new profile must perform a barrel roll and a loop-the-loop. Finish the campaign and the new profile can access the Foundation map when hosting split-screen, System Link, or Xbox Live games.

Alternately, if you have Xbox Live go to the Microsoft Content download menu and download all recently updated content. Go to a game menu. Go to change the options then change the map. It should be at the very bottom.

Play the game all the way through under any difficulty setting. Throughout the game, there are hints such as "Turn on flashlight", "Go camo with the White button", "Barrel roll with the A button in the Banshee", etc. Do not perform one of these actions (preferably the flashlight or barrel roll) until the very last level of the game. Use it there and after you finish the game the Foundation level should be unlocked on your list of multi-player maps.

Unlimited ammunition:
Obtain either a battle rifle or a shotgun. Shoot yourself in the foot until you die. Then, dual wield SMGs, and repeat. If done correctly about four or five times, you should no longer have to reload, and have unlimited ammunition.

Hidden DVD art gallery:
Insert the Halo 2 Bonus DVD from the Collectors Edition. Hold Left at the main menu until the art gallery appears.

Hidden DVD message:
Insert the Halo 2 Bonus DVD from the Collectors Edition. Remain idle at the main menu. The Marine will begin to threaten you very comically for not starting the game. He will go through three different routines before it repeats.

Stealing vehicles

When playing a multi-player map with vehicles, you can steal vehicles such as the Wraith from your opponent. Approach the vehicle while holding X. Note: This removes your opponent from the vehicle only; you must press X a second time to board the vehicle.

To hijack a Wraith, you must get up close to it by first destroying the side guns. You will get a message to press X. Do so, and you will be hanging on the side of it. Then, tap B to punch the door in. Next, press L and throw a grenade in. Jump off and go back in by pressing X, and you will now be driving the Wraith.

Use the following trick to knock enemies out of vehicle safely. Note: This only works with a fast moving, non-flying vehicle. First, stand by a wall or something that they can crash into. Try to get the opponent to run you over, then jump out of the way after about a second of contact. He should then crash into the wall. When he does, go directly next to it and hold X. You should now be in the vehicle.

When you board a Wraith of Scorpion tank, the "B to melee" message will appear. Melee until the cover is knocked off, then continue punching. This will kill the driver without damaging the tank.

Snipe from vehicle

Piggyback on a Banshee. Before one member of your team gets into the Banshee, jump on top of the Banshee's pilot cover. When you get in, you can just stand on top of it. Only make turns with the Right Analog-stick. They are slower and do not tilt the Banshee. More than one player can stay on top of the Banshee. This provides extra fun if you want to do aerial tricks with friends by jumping from Banshee to Banshee.
master cheif the second jr.

This trick requires a friend with a sniper rifle and a Banshee. Get in the Banshee and lay it right side up flat on the ground while still in it. Once you are ready, have your friend jump on the top of the Banshee. Make sure he is in the middle (the large part). Then, slowly ascend or take off and fly. Do not boost. If you done correctly, your friend will be standing on top of the Banshee with the sniper rifle. Once you cannot ascend higher, fly around and have your friend snipe enemies. Be careful not to let your friend fall off. To prevent this from happening, have him watch both your screen and his screen. He should use your screen to align his footing on the Banshee and his screen to kill the enemy. Also, when you ascend he must move forward slightly and do the opposite when descending to prevent falling.

Piggyback ride on vehicle

With almost any vehicle, you can get a piggyback if you are not skilled at driving or need a fast ride when someone on your team is already on a Ghost. This also works with the Scorpion, Banshee, and the Warthog when you have someone in the gunner seat, when you are all far enough away from the enemy.

This trick requires a friend, a Ghost, and lots of patience. Have your friend drive the Ghost. Jump on the front of the Ghost and align yourself with the plasma guns at the front. Now, look up. Have your friend drive but not boost. You should stay on the Ghost. Your friend's screen will scroll down and look at your feet. Thus, he will not be able to drive. To bypass this, do not turn your body and shoot "Charlie", but have your friend look on your screen and steer you.

This trick only works in multi-player maps with the Warthog and a friend. Have your friend drive the Warthog. Jump on the Warthog on the front windshield or the back towards the turret. Have him take off quickly. If done correctly, you should stay on.

Ride on Scorpion tank's turret

This trick requires a friend and a Scorpion tank. It is slightly difficult to perform and requires patience. Have your friend commandeer a Scorpion tank. Find a place where you can work in peace. Jump on the tank, then jump on the top of the turret. Adjust yourself so that you are on the middle to rear part of the turret. Have your friend gun the gas pedal and you should stay on the top of the turret. If done correctly you can now stand on the turret, even if it turns.

Two to four players on Ghost

This trick works best at Coagulation or Waterworks. Before the pilot gets onto the Ghost, have someone climb onto the engine. You can also have two more people jump on the wings, making it a total of four people on one Ghost. This trick creates a heavily armed aircraft that is useful for team games. Make sure the pilot does not accelerate hard or the people on the wings will fly off.

Vehicle explosions

In a multi-player level with vehicles (Ghosts recommended), stand in front of one of those barrel things that explode. Wait until someone in a Ghost sees you, throws it in turbo. and tries to run you over. At the last moment, jump out of the way. If done correctly, the vehicle will shoot past you, fly into the barrels, and explode; killing the driver instantly with a huge explosion.

Send tanks flying

While playing on a map with two Scorpion tanks available (Coagulation recommended), have a friend drive his or her tank up against a canyon wall until it flips upside-down, and your friend falls out. Drive your tank over to your friend's tank. Face the side that looks like a ramp. Line your tank up and start driving up it until one is on top of the other. While you are still in the top tank, have you friend walk over to the bottom one. The "Hold X to flip tank" message will appear. Once flipped, the bottom tank will send the top one flying high into the air (sometimes above the level), spinning at incredible speeds. After awhile, the tanks may start to catch fire and wear-down.

Rewards for straight killings

The following is a list of rewards you get from killing people without dying once. Note: After you get 20 kills, every five kills you get in a row will result in another overkill medal.

5: Killing spree
10: Running Riot
15 Rampage
20 Beserker
25 Over Kill (it says this every five kills after that)

Rewards for killing in four seconds

2: Double Kill
3: Triple Kill
4: Killtacular
5: Kill Frenzy
6: Killtrocity
7: Killmonjaro

Defeating opponent that has an energy sword

Your best chance of killing him before he slashes you is to dual wield SMGs. When you see the enemy from a short distance, just let loose. The bullets will most likely stop the enemy from advancing and will kill him.

Butterfly

This trick can help get you to high places. On Xbox Live or split screen mode, go to the locatoin against a wall where you want to go. Make sure you have rockets (recommended) or a sword, then look up. Get a player to stand on your head. Make sure that person is an enemy. The player on your head needs to keep on jumping while you keep pressing X + B. You should get to the top if you balanced all the way.

Strategic cover

Get a Warthog and drive it to a slant or a hill. Make sure the front of the Warthog is slanted downward. Shoot it until it explodes. Do not use grenades because it can flip or turn the Warthog. Wait until it stops burning, Also, make sure one or both of the rear wheels are off. When the Warthog stops burning, place a grenade under it, at the rear. If done correctly, the rear should hang in the air slightly. If its not hanging high up enough, you can melee it up higher, making it a perfect place to hide and cover grenades. Note: This may take some practice. Also, this cover will disappear after awhile -- be careful.

When in multi-player versus mode, choose a level with at least two Warthogs. Park one in front of a wall, then ram the other one into it. Keave a small area behind, with a small crack in between for you to fire from. Hide behind there and wait for someone to pass by. When they turn around, shoot or jump out and ambush them. Note: This works best when you are either the same color as the Warthogs or the wall, or can get very close to the Warthogs. Also, try to use this on a small level.

Intimidate

After receiving Double Kill, Killing Spree, Running Riot, Beserker, or Over Kill, intimidate the opposing players by finding your team partners and having both you and your partners repeatedly crouch and release to make it look as if it is a victory dance.

Stealth

Stealth is a powerful ally. If you can sneak up on your opponents from behind or on the side, you can deliver a deadly point-blank attack that if done correctly, will kill them before they can react. The best way to surprise an opponent is from above, as when they look behind them there will be nothing there. The best way to do this is get up on a crate, rock or something where you can ambush an enemy from above. Have a shotgun or an energy sword with you. When the enemy gets directly below you, shoot them in the head with the shotgun. If this does not kill them, jump down and melee them while in the air. If you are using the energy sword, wait until the enemy gets close and the crosshair turns red. Then, lunge attack to kill them instantly. By doing this you can rain down death from above and kill opponents without them even knowing what hit them. This strategy works best in smaller enclosed maps, but can also be put to effective use in the bigger maps.

2 on 2 on 2 on 2 on 2 on 2 on 2 on 2

Make a new Slayer game, and set the active players to two. Leave most selections at default, except turn off active camo and overshield. Set the starting weapons to the battle rifle and the shotgun. Turn off all vehicles except for two Warthogs, and turn off gun emplacements. Turn on teamplay, and turn off team switching. Set the betrayal penalty to 5 seconds. Play at Coagulation. This should allow you to have eight teams of two people each, making for some really fun teamwork games. If it does not, play with the active players setting until it works.
fancy pants

Go to the Colossus arena and have player two stand next to the middle conveyer belt, and player one stand on the platform that shoots you upward and remain still. This will work with energy swords or any other heavy weapon. Have player two hit a barrel on to the conveyer belt and watch it fly up. Have player one lines himself up with the barrel and hit it with a melee attack.

At ease position

While in a multi-player game, press D-pad Down. To other players, you will have your weapon lowered or down to your side. This may help if you are on your own turf and run into one of your friends right around the corner.

You can hold your gun down by making sure you have no grenades. After tossing them away, hold L and you will hold your weapon down. You will not notice this on your screen, but other people will see you do it. This does not work with the beam sword.

Change splitscreen orientation

To change the screen orientation in a cooperative game from horizontal to vertical, enter the Xbox console settings and change the video to widescreen. On a regular display, this will change the splitscreen from horizontal to vertical.

Troop transport

This trick works best in Coagulation. Get the Banshee. Before the pilot gets in, get four people on top; two on the canopy (top) and two on the wings (preferably the closest part to the cockpit). Then, let the pilot get in. Make sure he does not boost or you will all fall down. Also make sure he does not do sharp turns. An additional benefit is that the Banshee has extra fire power. Note: This will work better in capture the flag. It is also more effective to have at least five people on the team.

Killed by Guardians

Create a multi-player variant where you have no shields, a battle rifle as your primary weapon, and a magnum as your secondary weapon. Start playing in any level. Note: You can do this with only one person. Take out your battle rifle, aim it at what you think would be head level, then start running forward and press R(2), Y. You will take out your magnum and die. The game will say that you were killed by the Guardians and your score will not go down.

Blood Gulch reference

Go to multi-player mode and scroll to the Coagulation map. Read the description. It will describe "a bloody gulch".

Defeating Brutes

Get a Plasma Sword from a dead Covenant Elite and get close enough to the Brute for the half-circle surrounding the crosshairs to turn red before attacking. You will lunge forward and get rid of half the enemy's life. Jump into the air immediately afterwards, and do this a second time to kill him instantly. Both attacks combined cost only ten ammo points, so this process can be done ten times in succession, making it an effective way to crowd-clear Brute patrols near the end of the game. Make sure to jump in-between each strike so that the Brutes you are fighting cannot continue to ram you and drain your life.

Before you encounter a Brute, retrieve two dual wields Needlers. Then, shoot the Brute for two or three seconds. Make sure that the needles stick into the Brute. The needles will explode, killing the Brute. Note: This also works on Flood.

On the last level when you are fighting the Brute leader, wait for his shields to go off (when the blue gas-like thing around him shuts off). Then, shoot him in the head as many times as you can until it turns back on. Repeat this process until he is dead. Do not use an energy sword. It will not work, and he can kill you with one hit of his hammer.

During the final level, once you reach the door that leads to the final battle, a group of Brutes will come out. Instead of fighting them, use your invisibility gear and sneak through the door without having to fight. Note: You must be fast or the door will lock.

When facing several Brutes together, such as in the Uprising level, use a weapon with good accuracy, such as the pistol. However, this may be difficult because it no longer has a scope on it. The Covenant Carbine is a good choice because it has great accuracy, a zoom, and a usable clip size. When using the carbine, aim for the skull plating they have on the top of their head. If you are a skilled shot, this should kill the Brute in about four to five shots. Have something like the energy sword as a backup in case there are too many and they charge.

Two direct head shots with a beam rifle are required if they are wearing a helmet. Pack some heavy artillery. A fuel rod cannon or rocket launcher may be cheap, but they cannot charge you if they are blown up. A few hits with the brute shot can also work; there should be plenty of ammunition for it. If all else fails and they charge, a shotgun or the blade on the brute shot can work, but it will require three shots to the face with a shotgun and three hits with the blade.

The best combination of weapons against a Brute is to use two plasma rifles. Brute plasma rifles are recommended, as they are slightly stronger and shoot faster with a slower heating process. Run up to any Brute (this actually works for all enemies except Hunters) and fire both of your plasma rifles in sequence. This means that first you fire the right (or left) gun until it is nearly overheated, then stop firing that one and begin firing your second one until it is nearly overheated. Again, start firing the other one. Keep doing this in sequence and the only thing that will stop you from shooting is running out of ammunition. A good way to do this properly is to count how long you have been shooting. Shoot with one gun at a time for about three to five seconds, then begin shooting the other one. This is very useful for big groups of opponents as you do not have to reload or wait for your weapon to cool down.

The Brutes' weakness are their heads. That is why they usually have metal plates. Shoot them in their heads for an easy kill.

Take an energy sword. Jump up and attack when the reticule turns red. You should attack their head and instantly kill them. Note: When facing the last Boss Brute, you must use the charging attack while his shield is down.

The easiest way to kill a Brute, or almost any Covenant enemy (does not work on Flood or Hunters), is to dual wield Needlers. Fire four needles from each gun. If all eight stick, in about one second the Brute will explode. Any creature, except for Hunters, will die with the explosion. Alternately, stick a plasma grenade to them. Note: If it does not stick, it will not kill the Brute. You will get the same result.

Defeating Elites

When battling with Elites, do not hit them once with your weapon. Always hit them multiple times. If you hit them once, they will have a faster time and kill you with one hit or take down your shield.

An easier way to kill Elites quickly is to double-wield the SMGs and aim for the head. Be careful, as the SMGs tend to send the reticle upward. Also, try meleeing him before using the double strategy.

Dual wield a plasma pistol or rifle and a Human pistol. Use a plasma pistol or rifle to knock down the shields quickly, and then shoot them in the head with the magnum.

You can outsmart Elites in some battles by finding cover and returning fire as usual. However, when they stop firing, relocate to other sources of cover and have a few seconds before they notice. Also throw grenades before they get all the way out, if they are appearing from a door or a ship portal.

The best way to quickly kill an Elite is to hit them multiple times with your weapon. First. hit them so they are stunned for a few seconds, then shoot them quickly. They should die easily.

To kill an Elite easily under any difficulty setting, have a plasma pistol and battle rifle. Overcharge the plasma pistol and shoot the Elite with it. Then, quickly change to your battle rifle and shoot them in the head. If you score a headshot, it will always kill them. If not, then a few shots in the chest should do it.

When killing Elites (blue), shoot them in the head with a sniper rifle (human).

Take the shotgun and run up to an Elite. Fire at the chest and it should kill it in one shot.

If you are in close combat with an Elite, melee attack them in the front. Their reaction may be to come back at you, or to hold their stomach. However, no matter what they do, quickly go to the left then behind them and hit them on the back.

Defeating Floods

Get a Plasma Sword from a dead Covenant Elite and get close enough to the Flood for the half-circle surrounding the crosshairs to turn red before attacking. You will lunge forward and kill the enemy instantly, sometimes killing two or even three if they are in close-enough proximity to the target. This attack only uses between two to five ammo points, so it can be repeated at least twenty times. Note: Do not use this trick on either the small spider-like Flood or the large bulbous Flood, as the explosion that follows will damage your shields.

To kill the Flood, easily use the sword. It cuts right through the Flood in one shot, unlike any type of plasma gun.

To make fighting Flood easier, use a shotgun and an energy sword. The Flood levels are mostly close quarters -- shoot them in the face with a shotgun. This will take down even a shielded Flood in one hit. Then, use an energy sword to vaporize the bodies so that they cannot get back up. The best part is that it will not use any energy sword power.

You can actually kill the human and elite Floods with one shot of the Covenant carbine. Aim directly at the stomach for the human-type Floods (with no long tentacles in their left arm); and aim high in the middle where the head would usually be for the Elite-type floods (with the long tentacles).

Good weapons to kill Floods include the shotgun, energy sword, and dual SMGs.

Run up to the Flood and back off very fast. It will fall toward you and explode, without you having to use a weapon. Note: If you do not get away fast enough the explosion will damage you.

Whenever you have an energy sword and are facing the Flood, it will do the same damage if it is depleted.

It is possible to kill the Flood with the Covenant sniper rifle. For it to work, your parasite victim must remain absolutely still. Aim for his big arm until the crosshairs turn into a brighter color. This is his weak spot. It requires about two or three shots on that mark to kill it. Note: This move will not work on the slow and exploding Flood.

Defeating Grunts

With big groups of enemies, kill off the Grunts first, as they easier to kill and become less of an annoyance.

Two slashes with the plasma swords are good against Grunts. However, hitting them with the grenade launchers three times can kill just as easily and does not use any ammunition.

Get a needler. Find a grunt and aim close to his head. Shoot him and he will jump in the air and die.
countybrat63

When killing Grunts, shoot them in the head with a battle rifle.

Shoot a Grunt once with a needler, plasma rifle, or just hit them a little out of range. They should either curse and run, or attack.

Defeating the Heretic Leader

It is best to have dual Needlers and a Sentinel Beam when you are playing under the legendary difficulty setting. As soon as game play resumes after the intermission sequence, press White to turn invisible. Then, press Y to get rid of one of your guns and stick a plasma grenade to one of the guys. As soon as you do that, run to the left and behind a column. You should see a hole/hallway kind of thing. Go in there and hide a short time. You can then run out of the hole, turn invisible, and stick another grenade to one of them. If a grenade explodes and you hear a grunt or yell, you have hit the leader and not the copy. Go back and hide in the hole. This will save a checkpoint. The guy will start talking and more copies will appear. Repeat the process until he is dead. Note: Whenever you kill a copy of the Heretic Leader, it will drop several grenades, allowing you to restock.

Under the easy difficulty setting, quickly take out your sword and lunge at him twice. The game may glitch, and you will win.

After you finish the Metropolis mission, you will become an Arbiter, an Elite that goes on a special operation for the Prophets. Your mission is to silence an uprising of Elites and Grunts who are speaking against the Prophets. You must invade the Forerunner Facility that they are camping in, then hunt down and kill the leader. For this Boss, you need some plasma grenades, dual plasma guns, and an energy sword. This Heretic Leader has two Holodrones that confuse you. They also do as much damage as he does. There are two strategies that can be used. The first is to have two plasma grenades and cloak as soon as the battle starts. Stick one of the Holodrones with a grenade, and find some cover. Then, let your active camouflage recharge and do the same with the second Holodrone. Next, switch to the energy sword and lunge at the actual Heretic Leader. Keep slashing until he dies. Use that strategy for the higher difficulty settings (for example, legendary and heroic). The next strategy can be used under the easy and normal difficulty settings. Simply take your plasma sword and keep hitting the drones and the Heretic.

When you complete The Arbiter level, make sure you have a full fuel rod cannon and unlimited sword energy. Use the sword unless you get into a massive fire fight. After you get to the Heretic Leader for the first time, do not shoot him. When you chase after him through the Flood-infested Heretic Center, keep your sword out and stay invisible. When you get to the large room with the explosive gas containers, wait for the fight to settle down and make sure you stay away from the containers, as they can take out your shields or even kill you. Take out your fuel rod cannon and blast the Heretics in the tight corners if you have to (under the legendary difficulty setting, take them out, wait for their numbers to greatly dwindle, and take out your sword). Go out to the leader with your fuel rod cannon out. After the intermission sequence, blast the hologram pair, cloak, and take out the Leader with the sword. If playing under the legendary difficulty setting, you will need at least twenty rods and four plasma grenades. On the legendary difficulty setting, hide with the fuel rod cannon, fire at the holograms for two seconds, and cloak if necessary. Repeat this until the leader is dead.

Defeating Hunters

Get a beam rifle (the Covenant sniper rifle) and fire it in the middle of their bodies where it is pink. This is more effective then pumping shell after shell into them. Because they have the new gun, getting close to them no longer works. There is another way to defeat them, but it is more costly. First, take your plasma grenades and throw about two or three of them on their pink skinny area. Then, get a shotgun (or the strongest gun you have) and pump the pink spot full of rounds until it is dead. Since they usually appear in pairs, this can waste a lot of ammunition and grenades.

You can kill Hunters without using any ammunition. If there is a Human turret nearby, use it. You will do so much damage that they will drop quickly. You can also still get close to them. Remember that you are a lot faster than they are, and pay attention to where the other Hunter is located. Sometimes you can get them to hit each other. It is also possible to melee attack them to death, but a lot of your Marine allies will probably die.

When a Hunter charges, move out of his way. When he misses you, the pink spot on his back will be wide open. Use the weapon of your choice to blast him.

When you encounter a Hunter on any level, use your melee attack and hit them in the head. They will stand there for a moment, stunned. This is just enough time for you to get behind them and kill them. Depending on how skilled you are, it may take a few times to take them down.

When you see a Hunter, find a turret close by. Man the turret like in the Outskirts level. You must kill two Hunters to move on. There will be a turret upstairs, and when they come out, open fire on them.

Let a Hunter come up and swing at you. Dodge the swing and shoot him in the back with a Human sniper rifle.

The easiest way to kill Hunters is with the SMG. All you really need is one round if you are a good shot. It does not matter where you shoot, except if you are shooting at the shield.

Take a Human turret and just fire away at a Hunter, or take a shotgun and make them melee. Dodge the shield and pump two rounds into their back.

Equip a sniper rifle or beam rifle and at least two plasma grenades. When a Hunter is coming near you, throw a plasma grenade at it. It will either freeze or turn the other way, giving you a perfect shot in the back with the sniper rifle. Do this as many times as needed.

If you are lucky enough to face Hunters with a fuel rod cannon, you can take one Hunter out with two or three fuel rod blasts.

When fighting Hunters, do not bother using any weapons other than the Magnum. Dodge the Fuel Rod blast, let them run up, circle round them when they swing, then give them one shot in the pink on its lower back with the Magnum. If done correctly, it will drop on the first shot. Note: You must have precise aim.

When killing Hunters, dodge their melee attack and shoot them in the back, neck, or stomach in the orange parts (no armor) with a human sniper rifle. When killing Honor Guards, sneak up behind them and punch them in the back with any weapon, or, shoot them in the head multiple times with a Covenant or human sniper rifle.

When fighting Hunters shoot them with the Rocket Launcher or Fuel Rod Cannon.

Fun with Hunters

While in combat with Hunters, jump over their blasts then run up to a Hunter. Hit it in the front with your gun. When done properly you will not lose any health. When you are tired of playing with the Hunters, just jump over them and shoot them in the back.

Defeating Jackals

Fire until the Jackal rolls or does something else to lower its shield. Then, run up to him and melee him.

Defeating Prophets

To kill Prophets, you must dodge there laser attacks and get up close until the message to hold X to board appears. Do so. Once onboard, tap B to attack them. Three hits should kill them. If not, repeat until it falls.

Defeating The Prophet Of Regret

To easily defeat the Prophet Of Regret, jump on his vehicle then hold X to board it. You can then press B to melee him to death.
JP

After defeating the Heretic Leader, you will become a Spartan again. You will find and land on another Halo. You are supposed to track down the Prophet Of Regret. When you finally reach this Boss, there will be about five to seven Elite Honor Guards that are dual-wielding plasma rifles and try to attack you with energy swords. Kill some of them. Note: They will respawn as long as the Prophet is alive. Try to kill mostly the sword equipped Elites. Hide from the Prophet Of regret by running down the corridor on the right side of the level. You should be some good cover there. Then, rush him in his little chair while clearing out Elites. Hold X to board it, then melee him with your fist to win.

Under the legendary difficulty setting, Use the plasma pistol, battle rifle/Covenant carbine combo for quick kills against his minions. Use the side passages for cover. Try to stay on the upper level of the room so that you do not get jumped on from above. It also lets you jump down on top of the Prophet so that you can board him and beat him down. It will probably require four or five boardings to kill him. Repeat this as needed. On the plus side, his energy shield absorbs the damage from any enemies around, and the sword honor guards will not attack while you are latched on. However, watch out when the Prophet disappears; sometimes you will drop into a crowd of Elites.

Defeating Royal Guards

To easily take down Royal Guards (red Elites with strange helms), attack them with the energy sword. Do not be afraid -- keep slashing. They will fall after about three hits. Note: If it has a energy sword, you must get the first hit or it can kill you with one shot.

Do not let their armor fool you -- they are still Elites. Knock down the shields with a plasma weapon, then shoot them in the head with the pistol.

Have Plasma Grenades. When you see them, stick them with Plasma Grenades. It should kill them in one hit. The same can be done with Brutes, Grunts, Elites, and Jackals.

Defeating the Scarab

Instead of following the Marines, go staight across the bridge. You will find a sniper. Take it, then jump on the Scarab and shoot all the Elites and pilots.

If the people on the Scarab are taking down your shields, get on the gun turret. Fire at them madly. They will hide and allow time for your shields to recover. Then, jump on the Scarab and blow their head off by surprise.

When you fight the enemies on the Scarab, mostly Elites and Grunts, start running down the path. You will see rocket launcher ammunition. Collect it if you have a rocket launcher, as it will make battle easier when you enter the Scarab. Your second weapon should be a shotgun or dual plasma rifles in case you lose rocket launcher ammunition.

The Scarab is a six legged behemoth with weapons. It carries about ten Elites and six or seven Grunts. You cannot destroy it -- do not waste your rockets. Follow the Marines. The scarab Will be walking past it for about five minutes. Get the sniper rifle and rocket launcher. Snipe while walking towards the bridge. Snipe or shoot them with your rocket launcher, etc. When there are only a few people left on the platform, get a decent short range weapon (shotgun, plasma rifle, or SMG recommended), then jump onto the Scarab's top level. Go down a ramp, then go down a small staircase. Clear out the remaining Elites and Grunts. Once that is done, an intermission sequence will begin, and you have finished the Scarab.

Defeating Tartarus

When playing in co-operative mode under the legendary difficulty setting, get a grenade launcher that is left over from the Brute on the bridge. When Tartarus jumps onto the spinning disks, jump onto the platform with your partner, then jump on the three disks for safety. Let your partner have a carbine rifle on the top level and have him snipe reinforcements when they arrive. Run around the middle circle, waiting for Tartarus to lose his shield from Sarge sniping him. Hit him with your grenade launcher. Hit him three times, then run away and wait. His reinforcements may appear. If they do, camouflage and run to the top level. Allow your partner to kill the Elites. Camouflage if Tartarus or Elites come to the top level. Note: Use your Brute plasmas if you run out of ammunition. There are some on the middle level, and perhaps the bottom level. Make sure your partner conserves his carbine rifle ammunition. Never fight a Brute Elite, as they will kill you in a few hits. Also, never hit Tatarus with a melee attack. Never use grenades as Tartarus will just jump. The most important thing is to not allow your partner to die. When doing this in single player mode, use the same tactics except when Elites arrive, camouflage yourself then go to top level and snipe with the carbine rifle.

Get two Brute plasma rifles and run away. When his shields are down, throw grenades then shoot him. He should die quickly.

When the intermission sequence ends, do not rush towards Tartarus like the others. Instead, just wait until they all jump to the other side, then jump over there. Or, you can wait for the moving platform to help you get to the other side. After you have done that, Tartarus will have a sort of "fog" around him. Get a plasma gun. Note: If you cannot find one, go to the lift, and on the top floor behind a wall there should be a box from which you can get one. Dual wield the plasmas and fire at him until the fog goes away. Then, keep shooting at him with the plasmas until he dies. Alternately, when his shield depletes, drop your gun and throw a grenade until he dies. Be careful though -- stay a good distance away to avoid being hit and killed.

Under the legendary difficulty setting, instead of getting out of your Banshee when entering Tartarus' base, fly it inside and up, using the boost. You will scrape the ceiling and run into the wall at the end of the tunnel, then run into the door. Get out, open the door, and take your Banshee inside the door. Kill the Covenant with it, or get out then keep flying through the doors. When you get to the intermission sequence, you will be out of your Banshee on a platform with Tartarus in front of you with some Brutes. Kill them, then turn around and go back down the hallway the intermission sequence skipped. Your Banshee will be sitting there, ready for takeoff. This makes defeating Tartarus much easier. Continually fire at him and when the sergeant takes out his shield, it will hurt him until the point that he dies. If he tries to jump on you, just boost under him. Watch out for his Brute friends that he calls -- they are very accurate with Brute shots and plasma grenades and will kill you. Also, do not fly under the platform.

In the last level of the campaign called The Great Journey, get to the part where you enter the control room. Instead of walking through, bust your Banshee through. When you enter the room with the Brutes, get out of your Banshee and kill them. Note: They might destroy your Banshee. Then, kill the Honor Guards. Make sure your Banshee is in the room where you fought the Brutes. Continue on foot until the intermission sequence starts. When it ends, turn around and run back. On your way through, your friends will teleport there. Keep going and get in your Banshee. Note: Do not go below the last platform levitating in the main room or the game will automatically kill you. Then, drive your Banshee to Tartarus and shoot him. Pressing B will shoot your bomb. When his shield gets down, shoot him as hard as you can.

Use the following trick to fight Tarturus with a Banshee. When you get to the part when you guard Sgt. Johnson while he is in the Scarab, go ahead and kill all the turrets, Wraiths and Spectres so that they will not interfere with this trick. Note: Around the beach area is a Heretic Banshee which may not be able to hurt you. Have your partner shoot off your wings, or if in single player mode, get the Scarab to do so. Make sure that your wings are totally broken off, and not just damaged. When he opens the door, go in. You should not have any trouble getting through the tunnel until you reach a beam that almost blocks the entire way. Do barrel rolls into it, then loops, then barrel rolls again, until you get through. Get out of the Banshee to open the door, then get back in and shoot down the Brutes. Note: Fuel rod works very well. Then, boost into the hallway. After the intermission sequence, turn back in the hall and get your Banshee. You can wipe out Tarturus' shields easily and damage him a lot with the fuel rod. Note: If you park the Banshee exactly where the "icon" is, the intermission sequence will have Commander Keyes keep walking into your Banshee, or make her walk through it.

One of the best weapons for fighting Tartarus is actually the sword. Use hit and run tactics, activate the a camo and stand behind him. When the reticule turns red, press R. As soon as you hit him, run away. It takes three to four swipes from the sword to kill him, and it is better to do this when he is busy killing the other Elites.

If you use a sword to fight Tartarus, hit him on the side. If you hit him on the back or front, he will counter. When you hit him in the side, you will have more time to run back, as he needs to turn around.

On the last level in campaign mode, The Great Journey, there is an easier way to kill Tartarus. After the intermission sequence where Halo is activated, let your Elites rush the Brutes and try to kill Tartarus. Have your player wait for the first moving platform to come around. When it is halfway gone, jump on it. If you do not wait , it will disappear while you are still on it. Wait on the moving platform for the one with Miranda and the Oracle on it. When you are close enough, jump onto it. You can also just wait for it to come by the starting point of the battle (were the Brutes were located). Once on it, wait for Miranda to finish talking to the Oracle and Johnson. Note: You will need four plasma grenades for this part. Then throw a plasma grenade onto her, and get her to run off and go to where the battle is taking place. Do not worry, she cannot die. Then, get Tartarus to hit he. Once he starts, he rarely stops. When his shields go down, hit him on the back until he dies.

Take a carbine and jump on rotating platform. When his shield is down, shoot him in the head. Make sure to duck to dodge the platforms above.

When playing in single player mode, in the last level in the room before the tunnel that leads you to Tartarus, there is a fight scene. One of the Brutes has a shotgun. After everyone is dead, pick up the shotgun. Then, go to Tartarus. There will be more Brutes around him. Take care of them with grenades and the shotgun. Note: Tartarus is not effected by grenades. Then, just keep shooting him with the shotgun until he is dead. Be careful, as one hit of his hammer kills you. If you are playing on in co-op mode, do the same thing but have player two have an automatic gun or carbine. If you have the carbine, aim for their head.

Tartarus is the Brute Captain. When the battle starts, there will be about five Elites charging him and his squad of Brutes. Sgt. Johnson will stay back and snipe. For this mission, you need a Brute Shot (more common) or rocket launcher, and an energy sword. Let the Elites kill the Brutes. Tartarus has a huge hammer that will kill you with one or two hits, and a shield that will render him invincible. Get an energy sword from a dead Elite. Sgt. Johnson will shoot at Tartarus three times and will tell you that his shield is down. Lunge him, then run away. Locate him, then wait until the Sgt. Johnson shoots him again before lunging again. Keep repeating this strategy until he dies. Alternately, you can try shooting at him with your Brute Shot or rocket launcher if desired.

In the first entrance that you go into that is guarded by the Wraith tanks, you will meet up with the Hunters. Before you go into the room infested with Brutes, look to the left. There is a Covenant cache with two beam rifles (The Covenants' version of a sniper rifle). Take one and save it until you meet up with Johnson and the Elite reinforcements. Whatever weapon besides the beam rifle, swap with an ally for a sword. Stand back to shoot Tartarus. Three times should bring down his shield. After you shoot him, use active camouflage then quickly draw your sword and strike him in the back. Note. You must repeat this process three to five times before he dies. Try practicing this technique under the easy difficulty setting.

Once Sgt. Johnston blows the door with the Scarab, there is an opening in the rafters in the room that was destroyed by the blast. Fly the Banshee through the rafters, and get out to open the door. Push your Banshee through, then get back in to kill the group of Brutes that you fight before Tartarus. Once you eliminate every Brute, get out of the Banshee and push it through the doorway as you did before. There should be a short intermission sequence before the last battle. You should start out slightly ahead of where the intermission sequence started. Backtrack until you see your Banshee. Pilot the Banshee to defeat Tartarus easily.

Make sure you pack a sword and duel wield two red plasma rifles. Keep your distance from Tartarus, as a single strike from his hammer can kill you. Keep strafing left and right while shooting and dodging Tartarus. His shield will go down, but only for a very brief time. You must act quickly. When his shield goes down, take out your sword, strike once, and back off while throwing a plasma grenade. Start shooting him as soon as his shield goes up again. Do the same as before when his shield goes down again. Note: Johnson will help you from a distance with a beam rifle. He will let you know when Tartarus' shield goes down.

To take down Tartarus' shield easier, shoot at the head of his hammer. This is very useful under the legendary difficulty setting.

When fighting Tartarus, before you jump down into the arena, go back to Johnson and take his beam rifle. Then, pick up a good secondary weapon such as a shotgun. Shoot Tartarus two times with the beam rifle, then quickly change weapons and shoot him until he dies. You can repeat this as many times as desired to kill him faster than with Johnson's help, as you have better aim and a better chance of hitting him more often.

Defeating hijackers

Use the following trick in multi-player mode with someone that is trying to steal your vehicle. When you definitely know that they are trying to board your vehicle, press X to hop out as they board. This will give you about three or four seconds to blast them before they can get a bead on you. This requires some skill, but works very well. It is possible to take out a Banshee, Ghost, and Warthog with one SMG by doing this.

When someone tries to steal your vehicle (and it is not a Banshee), allow them to do so. When you hit the ground outside the vehicle, press X as fast as possible. You should steal the vehicle back from the person. Move quickly away from them or they will do the same thing to you.

When someone is hijacking your Ghost, Warthog, Specter or Banshee, wait for them to almost take it away from you (just before you lose control of it). Press X quickly to get out, then immediately after you press X, hold X. You will ditch your Ghost or other vehicle, and will not kicked off and can now hijack it back.

If you have a powerful close or long-range weapon (shotgun, sniper, or beam rifle) and someone boards when you are in a Banshee, quickly aim at the feet of the person. Shoot as much as you can with the shotgun until he flies away. If done correctly, his shields should be down. You should have about three or four seconds until his shields recharge. Zoom in with the sniper or beam rifle and shoot.

Hijack a Banshee

Wait until a Banshee drops quite low (but you still cannot reach it). Jump before doing it. If it does not say "Hold X to board enemy Banshee", press X regardless. You might not see Master Chief leap up and hit the Elite (or other alien) out of the Banshee. Do not go too low, and drive slowly because the Elite might kick Master Chief out.

If you have a Banshee, use your boost and fly over another one. Immediately jump out, then hold X and you will instantly board it. However, if you press X too soon you will re-enter your own Banshee. This also will not work if the enemy boosts or turns

Destroying Shadow Dropships

When you are directly under a Shadow that is dropping Covenant, throw a plasma grenade into the blue part that the Covenant come from. The Shadow will explode.

Destroying Ghosts

One of the best ways to take down a Ghost is with a sniper rifle. Wait until the Ghost is facing away from you and open fire at the pilot. If the pilot does not die, the Ghost may explode, because it is very vulnerable in the back.

To destroy a Ghost in one hit (sniper rifle) or three shots (battle rifle), look on the left side of it, just under the driver's seat. You will see a gas tank of sorts. If you shoot that directly, the Ghost will explode with one hit or one burst from the battle rifle.

If you have a sniper rifle you can destroy a Ghost with one shot. Look on the left side of the Ghost, and there should be a grey circle, One shot will make it go up in blue flames. A shot to it while someone is riding it gives the blow as one torso shot with a sniper rifle. If you shoot someone off, they are stunned and you can finish them off with one shot.

Use a sniper rifle to shoot the little circle on the bottom right middle part of the Ghost. It will automatically explode.

When facing an enemy that is riding a Ghost, look to the left side of the Ghost. There should be a fat silver circle sticking out of the side. That is the Ghost's fuel tank. Stick it with a Plasma Grenade and watch it burst into blue flames.

Tank explosion

On Xbox Live or multi-player mode, when you see someone's tank getting hijacked, use any weapon to kill the hijacker. When you kill him, the entire tank will explode for a two for one kill.

Large grenade explosion

When you have killed a group of Elites, Flood, Grunts, or Marines (they all usually drop grenades) in a small area, lure all remaining enemies to that location. Throw any type of grenade at the same spot. The following explosion should create a chain reaction on the grenades dropped by the Elites, Grunts, etc. and kill all enemies in one huge explosion.

Next generation Warthog launch

This trick is reminiscent of the Warthog launch from the original Halo, but uses different methods. First, start a split screen multi-player game with just yourself on a map that has any explosive boxes (Headlong or Waterworks recommended). Then, find any of the explosive boxes and gather them in a pile near one end of the map. You can move them by pushing against them or meleeing them. However, do not melee them more than once or they will explode. After you have gathered enough, park a Warthog over them slowly and fire a rocket at one end of the Warthog. Depending on how many boxes you gathered, the Warthog should go incredibly far. Note: This takes a surprising amount of skill and time, and should only be done if you have run run out of other things to do).

Hijack a Wraith

Go near a Wraith and press X. Then, press B a few times. Instead of throwing a grenade, just hop in. If this does not work, throw a grenade in the Wraith.

Destroying a Wraith

Besides boarding, there is one other reliable way to take down a Wraith in single or multi-player mode. Get a Ghost and hit the booster until you are right up against the Wraith. Then, circle around to the back of it and open fire. By the time he has fully turned around to get a bead on you, he will probably be dead. If he tries to get out, you can simply pick him off as he is climbing out. Note: This may not work as well in single player mode, as the Wraith has anti-infantry plasma cannons.

Shoot birds

On certain levels in campaign mode, there will be birds. Get a sniper rifle or any gun that zooms in and shoot the birds. They will splatter apart.

Weak points

If you have a rifle (carbine or battle rifle) aim at certain points of an enemy (for example, head for most Covenant or chest for Flood). A little dot will appear in the middle of the reticule to confirm the weak point. This dot will not appear on any form of Sentinels, Flood infection and carrier forms, Hunters, and Drones.

Moveable cover

Find a medium sized crate, such as an empty Forerunner gas container or a UNSC (Marines) helmet, body armor, gas mask, or boots crate. Hide behind it when under enemy fire. Due to the fact that most enemies aim for the torso, they cannot hit you, but will still fire on you because they can see your head. You can hit this cover to move it to safely advance on the enemy, while not getting shot. However, there are exceptions. Flood infection forms (small skittering Flood) will go over your improvised cover. Flood combat forms (Mutated Marines and Elites) without guns will either swat your cover away or go around it. Flood carrier forms (bulbous exploding Flood) will either detonate in front of your cover or go around it. Grunts are not tall enough to see you and Berserk Brutes will do the same as gunless Combat Forms. Drones also present problems, as they will fly over and simply fire on you from behind. Note: Shoot both arms off a Flood Combat form and it will slowly walk forward and burst with no explosive damage' and most of the time, an infection form will skitter away from the area or attack you.

Faster reload

When reloading a gun, press melee immediately after the ammo is reinserted into the gun, press X. This enables you to shoot and/or zoom instantly. This works for any gun that uses ammunition.

Dual wield two weapons that use clips. Shoot the one on your right. Reload it. As soon as it disappears off the screen, drop the weapon in your left hand. The gun on the right will have a full clip. With practice this can become useful, except in heavy fire situations.

To double shoot with the battle rifle, quickly press R(2), X. If done correctly, your gun will fire two bursts very fast then reload itself without showing the motion.

Using shotguns

This is a very good tactic when playing with only shotguns. Circle around your opponent, then jump over them then when you land. Crouch so they lose you, and they will scramble around in circles looking for you. Blast them apart with your shotgun.

Accurate SMG Dwing

When DWing SMGs, press one shoot trigger at a time simultaneously. This disables the reticle/aimer from going upwards. Note: This also works on other DWings.

Keep SMGs from moving up when shooting: To prevent the SMGs from moving up when you are shooting (with dual and a single SMG) keep tapping R (if single) or R + L (if using duals).

Sniping with the beam or sniper rifles

When you carry a beam or a sniper rifle, you can zoom in with 5x or 10x. You can switch from 10x to 5x by holding the Right Analog-stick from 5x to 10x. Release the Right Analog-stick and it will go back from 10x to 5x. This trick can also be used for more accurate sniping if you hold on to the Right Analog-stick. This also applies to the carbine and battle rifle, and the rocket and fuel rod cannon.

Lock on with rockets

To lock on with rockets, target a person, vehicle, etc., then hold R until it says that it is locked. The red reticle will follow the item. Release R to fire.

While using a rocket launcher, you can lock-on to the following items: turrets, vehicles, and the Phantom's plasma cannons (Covenant Dropship's turrets). To lock-on to those objects, aim your cross-hairs at the object. By doing this, your rocket launcher's cross-hairs should have four red squares on the corners. Then, hold Fire so that the rocket launcher will fully lock-on to the object. While this happens, the lock-on system of the rocket launcher should make a few repetitive beeping sounds. After the beeping sounds have ended, the cross-hairs should be completely red and ready to fire. Release Fire and your spiraling heat-seeking rocket launcher missile will go to the target.
