At some point, every player who enters the Wilderness will encounter a Revenant
For those who don't know about Revenants:
Revenants are classified under the race of Undead, and they appear in random places all over the Wilderness. They have levels ranging from 7-135. Revenants are not a species, for they have many different kinds, which we will get through later in this guide. They are aggressive monsters and attack with all three styles of combat, Melee, Range, and Magic so they cover all angles of the combat triangle, making them a very formidable foe.
What to watch out for while encountering a Revenant
As said earlier, they attack with 3 styles which all hit extremely high. Beware of Range and Mage attacks their Range attack will freeze you making you unable to move for five seconds, and their mage attack will teleblock you, disabling all teleportation spells as well as enchanted items and teleport tabs, unless you equip a Forinthry Brace. All Revenants can go through closed doors and spiderwebs not walls.
Recently added: Revenants can be blocked by obstacles, they also cannot run and usually have set locations that each cover. Usually the more populated areas of the Wilderness. That's why people are not all that surprised when they spot Revenants around the Green Dragons, King Black Dragon Lair, Mage and Agility Arenas ( WARNING: 50+ WILDERNESS AND REVENANTS ARE EXTREMELY COMMON HERE, A FORINTHRY BRACE IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST! )
The Revenants:
Revenant Imp: Level 7
Revenant Goblin: Level 15
Revenant Goblin: Level 22
Revenant Goblin: Level 30
Revenant Goblin: Level 37
Revenant Icefiend: Level 45 ( They have the ability to poison you )
Revenant Pyrefiend: Level 52
Revenant Hobogoblin: Level 60
Revenant Vampire: Level 68 ( They can regenerate health when running low )
Revenant Werewolf: Level 75
Revenant Cyclops: Level 82
Revenant Hellhound: Level 90
Revenant Demon: Level 98
Revenant Ork: Level 105 ( They have the ability to poison you )
Revenant Dark Beast: Level 120 ( They can eat food and regenerate health )
Revenant Knight: Level 126
Revenant Dragon: Level 135 ( They have the ability to poison you )
Tactics for surviving in Wilderness while encountering a Revenant -- Recently Added
1. Ask yourself, "Why am I in the Wilderness?" 1a. Dragons (KBD included) 1b. Minigames (Clan Wars, Stealing Creations, Fist of Guthix, Mage Arena, Agility Arena, Treasure Trails, etc.) 1c. Revenant Hunting
If your answers fall into these categories, please remember if it was 1-C and continue on to the next set of answers
2. If you answered these, you should probably be prepared to the best of your ability as to what NPC you may encounter. 2a. Since you're doing dragons you will stick around levels 14-23 (Green) 36-42 (Red) and 44 (KBD), which can be pretty dangerous. If you are hunting Green Dragons, check your level and find which Revenant is closest to your combat and if it has the ability to poison you, it is safer to bring an anti-poison pot with. If hunting KBD, it is a must for his own ability to poison, so no need to really go into detail with that. Red Dragons, however are in 36-42 Wilderness, which is extremely dangerous and should always have a Forinthry Brace as well as an anti-poison in your inventory just in case. 2b. Minigames are sprawled out all over the Wilderness, but those exceeding level 40 are required to have a Forinthry Brace as well as anti-poisons with, since Revenants can poison at any time now. 2c. Revenant hunting is not worth the risk and the amount of money lost during the actual combat, you will encounter other NPCs as well as other Revenants you don't even have a target on, making you take extra damage and possibly dying over it. One slight mistake can have you killed. The following applies to all questions/answers: 1. Once encountering a Revenant protect from range, or if wearing melee armor, protect from magic. 2. Turn off auto-retaliate, and Protect Item prayer (if needed), or if being attacked by multiple Revenants, use Steel Skin prayer and use a Super Defense potion. 3. Attempt to trap the Revenant in an obstacle such as a tree, boulder, body of water or walls. NOT CLOSED DOORS, THEY CAN PASS THROUGH THEM! 4. If you were able to trap the Revenant(s), quickly log out or get into a Safe Zone as fast as you can *If not wearing Forinthry Brace.
FAQs
Q.) Are Revenants worth hunting? A.) No. Revenants hit extremely high, and since in the Wilderness when you die there is a risk of losing your items. They offer no real experience and their drop/drop ratios are very poor.
Q.) If they aren't good for anything, why are they in the game? A.) There is no such thing as a useless monster in this game. Each serve a purpose one way or another and Revenants were put in the Wilderness to make it more difficult; more of a risk.
Q.) Why can't I attack lower level Revenants/ Why can't I attack higher level Revenants? A.) It is because you can only attack them if your Combat Level is greater or lower than this monster by an amount equal to or less than the level of Wilderness you are in.
Recently Added Notes: Revenant hunting is recommended for players who have experience in dealing with the Wilderness and the Revenants themselves. Investing 500k in an Angel Gravestone is worth it for Revenant hunting in case of death, if not then invest in bringing a friend with to bless the gravestone in case of death! P2P are more likely to succeed in killing Revenants and getting somewhat 'successful' drops, in F2P Revenants hold a bit more of an advantage since they can still teleblock and freeze you, just not poison.
I hope this guide helps anyone who was confused or unsure about Revenants and what their abilities were!
I will try and provide screenshots of what each style of their attacks look like, since someone recommended it!

They are just useful tips to know what to do if you are unsure as to what a Revenant can do.
It really depends on the reader as to where this thread belongs.
It could be quite useful to some people, and to others it is just something to brush up on.
It is too useful to be put into General Discussion, and not really that dire to be put into a working guide.
Also, as I stated in a previous thread, to make the Wilderness safer with Revenants, equip a Forinthry Brace and if you are teleblocked you can just teleport anyways at the cost of 1 charge. ( This brace has a total of 5 charges. )

Ha, I totally get what you mean. As for me doing a better job, thanks for telling me that. I COMPLETELY forgot to add a lot of stuff and I just now updated the topic. I'm actually pretty proud of it, I think in my spare time I will do an experiment for you guys to see if Revenant hunting is all that worth it. The new stuff I think was really important that I added, I could also maybe get a map of the wilderness and show where they actually run their 'territory' and even respawn. I've actually hunted them a long time ago and pretty much memorized everything about them, which is why making the guide was really interesting and brought back a lot of memories lol. I have a feeling I will end up caving and go back into revenant hunting and possibly make an extension of this guide to be dedicated about the hunting of a revenant. Who knows, you might have given me that extra little push I needed to actually realize how interesting these pests are!
P.S. I hope you find the add-ons more useful, if there is anything else you need to know, feel free to ask here and I will post it without question.
