For those of you who think you can 'steal' or 'hack' an account using the Account Management system, you are very wrong.

They are not going to give you an account when you provide insufficient information.
Just because you added the word 'suicide' does not guarantee any success.

Remember, most of these submissions are not done by hand, but through a working system which checks each bit of information you provide and matches it up with any previous account details.

If in fact you were lucky enough to get an actual person to check your submissions, they are even harder to fool because they are not some piece of artificial intelligence. They have a brain, and they know that people like us, sadly, use the suicide card as well as other piteous excuses to obtain an account that may or may not have been ours.

Insufficient account information is the downfall to all of these plots, no matter how detailed the reason being was.

Put it in this perspective,

Let's say that I wanted to steal your account. It could be 1 hour, or even 1 year since you last played. It doesn't make a difference. I go to account management to recover "my (which is really your) account." I type in a bunch of fake information for recoveries (if you set them) as well as fake previous passwords along with the other fine details. Finally, I make a sap story about how RuneScape is my life and if I don't get "my account" it could in fact be the reason leading to my suicide. -- You can add in another story, but just follow along with mine.

I wait after the tracking code was sent in, and of course it didn't work. Why? Because it was never YOUR account, you are on a completely different I.P. address, and yes a lot can change manually or even just unplugging a modem does the trick, but there is a chance that the person who really owned the account had an internet service that didn't give him/her random I.P addresses with every log, so the first time the account was ever recovered was done on a foreign computer.

Rewind time! Let's say this did in fact work, now you may have been my level, 136, and a strong player for years. Out of the blue though, someone stole your account? How? Fake account information?

If fake account information could get us an account we wanted, then why does Jagex even provide us with a chance to set up a secure way to ensure the safety of our accounts. It would cancel out the meaning of 'Recoveries'. You might as well just go into the main page, create 'Zezima' and type in a password that you made up not two seconds ago.

These do NOT work, no matter how detailed they get. If the information is incorrect, your outcome will also be negative.

Another thing to add, those people who had accounts with no recoveries make retrieving their account that much harder. Jagex Support is not able to give an account back to a person who did not set up recoveries.

If you put the previous story and add it on to this situation, the outcome is the same. Insufficient evidence in the beginning relays no information to Jagex. Meaning, 'you snooze you lose'. If you created an account that was originally yours and you just so happened not to have created recoveries then the chances of you getting that account back are slim to none. If you think about that, what are the chances of a complete stranger obtaining an account with no recoveries? They can't provide any information as for recoveries, and no passwords either since they are stealing the account and never knew the password remember? They don't know when it was created, or the IP/Internet Provider they used. They don't have an e-mail address set up, or even the last time the account had membership. Alls they have is one paragraph explaining why the account was 'theirs' and how badly they 'want it back'.

It doesn't work that way you guys, think about it.

Even if this worked in the past, look at RuneScape now. Notice how much they have cracked down, they wouldn't let something as serious as account stealing slip through. That means a loss of money for them, and loss of many paying customers who find the game to be unsafe.

Anyone who has any input on this matter, feel free to post here.

He already is Elite Member ;)

And yeah I agree jacob, I as well have tried every scheme to steal accounts out there. With NO success. Lots of people write these guides on hacking accounts because they got some lvl 20 account one time, and think it will work for lvl 138 accounts. Now ofcourse, it is possible to hack accounts, as people get their creditcards, bank pins, and other personal info hacked quite often. But these people are programming master's that are, well, evil.

A measly 'idontknowit' answer for recovery questions will NOT get you an account. And if you add that you're going to commit suicide if you don't get it back, will probably be more of a reason for them NOT to give you the account. If someone were to honestly think about suicide over RuneScape...Get A Life?

Instead of wasting your time trying to hack accounts, just go make one...Are you really THAT lazy that you have to hack an account to have any success at this game?

This doesn't really deserve a Yay or a Nay, because its just an opinionated paragraph. Well done, nonetheless, and appreciated.

Another thing to add,

A lot of people who play online games such as RuneScape have what you call Social Anxiety, and actually consider the game being their only real acceptance into a social 'reality'. These people, being 'frail' or not, consider this game just as important as their own actual life. So stealing their account could actually drive the person into suicide.

There has been an actual suicide because of RuneScape, you can look it up on YouTube even.

You may think it's no big deal, but this is a real person and you're stealing something of REAL value to them.
It's like going into someone's house and stealing from them, having it be something valuable because of the price, or just important to them because it's special.

It is a breach of trust, as a friend if doing it to something through the 'friendship method', or trust of the company through the account management system.

I feel that I need to be a voice for some people like that on here, I have close friends, family members including my brother who have committed suicide that do not need to have this kind of serious matter put up as an excuse to get an account on an online game!

Make your own account, buy your own account, do not STEAL someone's account because you yourself are too lazy to work for one.
It is horrible, you should feel bad for all the people you took advantage of. This might be 'online' but to some it is just as real of life as you yourself sitting down right now.

The higher level of the account, the more likely you are encountering someone with some sort of social dysphoria. No, not EVERYONE with a level 138 is one of these people, but come on, it's more likely.

Please just take all of that into consideration before you try to steal from someone.
It really puts a downer on people, I sure would be sad if someone stole my account.

The time used that most of you spend on trying to steal an account, could have gone towards creating your own.

I am not here to bash on those who have their mind set on stealing accounts, but encouraging it with methods proven USELESS is a waste of everyone's time. It gets peoples' hopes up in a chance to actually 'steal' one.
You may put down how it worked fifty times, or how it only worked seven out of one hundred. Though, you do not know that once you tell us that ONE TIME OUT OF ONE MILLION IT HAS WORKED, that everyone reading the useless bit of 'information' is going to try at it. Thus, ruining everyone's time and honestly, putting less trust into the site as a whole.

The more people we have creating these faulty guides, the more people who try will think this site, OUR site is useless when in fact it is not. Sometimes I have to remind myself why I am here when I encounter guides, as well as people like that. This place is and should be used for bettering our gaming experience, and knowledge of the game itself.

I really think people who post useless guides like that, especially those who fill it with lies, actually just use the concepts as 'free meal tickets' for Elite Membership.

Though they do not know that pretty much all of the guides in the Working Sections actually came from the Submissions section. You are getting the same information minus the previous working information. I have maybe three or four proven to be WORKING guides still in the submissions section as an example. You STILL have working guides there. People still have working scripts/bots/autos along with cheats and exploits. Search around a bit more before and you will find what you've been looking for.

I really appreciate those of you who take the time in researching your information, and testing it out yourselves before posting them on this forum instead of being like some people who get greedy and want Elite Membership by posting a useless guide that they either ripped off from someone, repeated, or completely made up.

It is cheap, and it floods the section of our forums which makes actual WORKING guides be pushed down on the list and maybe never even looked into.

Thanks for pinning this Mistik, someone needed to shed a little light on this. :P

Jacob.
