Feb 22nd 2008Been a while since I posted an exploit, so here's one...
Here's something I've tried twice in the last two days. It's useful for rinsing D'Vinn for a bit of extra cash at the end of an Acadechism run. Here's how it's done -
When D'Vinn and his orc guards become active mobs, evac to the entrance (or failing this, run) and then make your way back to the room. There's two advantages to this - first of all you can go back and bodypull his bodyguards to make it easier to duo/trio D'Vinn... and secondly there's something you need to be fighting D'Vinn to discover.
For some reason, most of the times D'Vinn turns into his two shadows, he drops an ornate chest. Figures it's something to do with evaccing or running away to reset him.

http://www.digitalbrain.com/dimmuborgir/D%...n%20Exploit.JPGI've always waited 5 minutes between killing D'Vinn's orc bodyguards and attacking D'Vinn. Do this and it should work perfectly.
Happy hunting!

Feb 23rd 2008http://www.digitalbrain.com/dimmuborgir/EQ2_000185.jpgThere we have it, master chests can drop too. I'm extremely happy to confirm this! Especially since the master I got was Undying Dreadnought. Earned me a handsome 15 plat.
Next time round I'm going to focus on the combat mechanics of D'Vinn.
Feb 24th 2008We have a winner.... D'Vinn dropped another master chest today, and I'd say he's probably got a 1/10 chance of dropping one.
Here's the strategy I now use -
Have a group member around level 72 - 76, everyone will have to mentor down to this level (If you're below it, no worries). One group member will have to be capable of soloing D'Vinn. That member of the group will have to have a feign death skill (But if you have a groupmate with group feign death, it's plain sailing). One member of the group must have evacuate.
Here's my setup - Shadowknight (80), Fury (75), Dirge (64). Shadowknight mentors down to Fury (75)
Here's how we do it -
1) Evacuate the moment D'Vinn and his bodyguards run at you. I usually let them get a hit in before vanishing.
2) Run back and skillfully pull the two orc bodyguards and kill them
3) Let D'Vinn kill the Fury and the Dirge just outside the room D'Vinn spawns in. STAY DEAD.
4) Shadowknight solo's D'Vinn
5) After D'Vinn has turned into shadows the second time (so when the second chest drops) Shadowknight solo's the shadows and then feigns death when D'Vinn comes charging back. D'Vinn has nobody else to attack since the other group members are dead, so he runs to the back of his room and resets.
6) Shadowknight waits for power to replenish, gets back up, solo's D'Vinn to the second shadow cycle again.
7) Shadowknight feigns death at the same point as before.
And this can be done forever. So what do you do with all the ornate chests? The legendary items are lore and can't be looted more than once. Well here's what I do -
Got a transmuter waiting in the zone, ungrouped. So he won't get any aggro from D'Vinn. On my server, those transmution products can sell at around 60g on the broker, and considering how many ornate chests you'll get, that's a ton of money.
If you have a monk who can group feign death at the point of the D'Vinn fight I specified then this will be very easy for you, but I'm not sure of the recast on that. I do know that SK feign death doesn't have a very long recast.
Without a transmuter you'll have to have a "mule" who gan join the group and enter Acadechism when there's no fighting (killing a shadow of D'Vinn will lock you out) and taking the loot and running it to the nearest Vendor on the road to Kelethin, then coming back - this takes time though and is the least profitable way.
That's all there is to know about this exploit - with the right group you could be laughing all the way to the bank.
